The
firm was founded in 1980 by William R. Wilson, Jr. and Stephen
Engstrom, as "Wilson & Engstrom." For over twenty
years the firm's offices were located at 809 W. 3d Street. The
firm added two partners in 1984, Roxanne T. Wilson and Gary D.
Corum, and the firm's name was changed to "Wilson, Engstrom & Corum."
In 1986 Timothy O. Dudley joined the firm as a partner. For the
next eight years the firm was known as Wilson, Engstrom, Corum & Dudley.
The firm suffered a tragic loss in 1992 with the untimely death
of partner Roxanne Wilson. Roxanne was an extremely capable
trial lawyer
and an invaluable part of the firm's operations.
Her sudden illness and death from cancer was keenly
felt by the entire Arkansas bar, which responded by establishing
important scholarships and awards in her honor. The firm's partners
have continued to include the name of Roxanne Wilson in the firm's
name, as a tribute to a fallen comrade who is still deeply missed.
In 1993, Nate Coulter joined the firm as partner and the firm
took the name Wilson, Engstrom, Corum & Coulter. Later that same year
President Clinton appointed founding partner William R. Wilson, Jr.
as United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Arkansas.
Wilson, Engstrom, Corum & Coulter purchased and constructed a
new suite of offices on the sixth floor of the newly constructed
Arkansas Capital Commerce Center in 2002. The building is located
at the corner of Third and Commerce Streets in the River Market District
of downtown Little Rock, a rapidly developing area which also contains
the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library, as well as a
number of other significant buildings and attractions. These new
offices allow the firm to serve its clients with state of the art
facilities and the latest in technology.
